Two schedules that must not overlap
A food producer's own cleaning schedule is part of its food safety programme, with documented methods, verification steps and records that are audited. A building cleaning schedule is a commercial arrangement. Where the two overlap without agreement, a cleaner may clean an item the production team has already verified, or assume production has covered something it has not.
The remedy is a shared item list agreed at the outset, with every surface and item in the production area assigned to one party or the other. Nothing appears on both lists and nothing is left off both. That takes an hour with the production manager and it removes the single most likely cause of a genuine hygiene failure in a mixed arrangement. Reviewing the shared list whenever the production process changes keeps it accurate, since a new piece of equipment otherwise appears on neither schedule.
